Priorities

Work with Snohomish County, Community Transit, Metro, Sound Transit, King County and Microsoft Connector to advocate for a public private partnership for future commuter rail using Diesel Multiple Unit trains from Snohomish to King County and Everett.

Partner with other communities outside Sound Transit taxing district to explore options to connect to system.

Support marketing partnerships with local, regional and state tourism related entities including tourism boards, hospitality entities, entertainment related companies, local businesses, agricultural, viticulture, brewers and distillers.

Support marketing partnerships with local agricultural, viticulture, brewers and distillers for the proposed “Bounty of Washington” excursion train.

Advocate the development of a parallel trail connecting the Centennial Trail to the Lake Sammamish and Burke Gilman trails providing a continuous 172 mile trail from Skagit to Pierce counties.

Work with Puget Sound Regional Council, local communities and developers to explore transit oriented development opportunities in Snohomish, Cathcart, Maltby, Woodinville and Totem Lake in Kirkland through “livable communities” initiatives

Explore a dedicated new passenger rail siding along the seven mile BNSF Railway mainline and adjacent utility corridors from Everett to Snohomish to connect Eastside Rail corridor with the I-5 rail line, host the Amtrak Empire Builder and relieve operational pressure on the BNSF mainline, Bay/Delta switching yards.

Interlocal Priorities

Secure $10 million in public funds to upgrade the tracks and bridges from Woodinville to Snohomish.

Work with Snohomish County in developing a parallel trail connecting the Centennial Trail to the Lake Sammamish and Burke Gilman trails providing a continuous 172 mile trail from Skagit to Pierce counties.

Secure federal funding (EPA/CMAQ/Public Health) for a bi-county study for “temporary repurposing” of the rail corridor to bring construction material and equipment in and out of East King County public and private projects to reduce project costs and replace diesel double dump trucks with more energy efficient, less air polluting trains.
